In Prophecy Girl Angel was unable to resuscitate Buffy because he had no breathe and yet in later seasons Spike was able to smoke. Definitely an oversight by someone.

The Master's bones always bugged me. So he left them behind, yet no other vamp has ever done - and it doesn't seem to be due to age, as Kakistos didn't leave any. And yet there's an age-old ritual involving vampire bones that can be used to resurrect them - but the Master is the only vamp to have ever done so! Hmmmm.....

If vampires are dead and their hair doesn't grow, how did angel get that beard in amends?
I always thought that the master's bones survived because he is much older even than kakistos... but then in s7 the turok hans' bones didn't survive when they were killed, so who knows?
As for angel having no breath, the only explanation I can think of is that he does have breath, but he never tried to breathe, so he didn't know about it.

Hmmmm..... i think that was bcuz he was THE MASTER of alll vamps and that made him special for some reason. I mean look at the way he looked!not exactly normal vamp face in th least!lols :)but thts just my guess.

Joss whedon did say something about the hair growing on dead ppl.it was either in the BITE ME angel/btvs episoid guide or the Btvs eppisoide guide volume 3, but he did say something about how he did tht on purpose cuz of how in season 6, buffy came back with longer hair, how the hair cells still grew.how it wasnt dead or something. you'd have to read about tht eppisode to clarify it...

Huh what episode guide? Do you mean dvd commentary? I only have seasons 1 & 2 on dvd, I missed out on a lot of commentaries.

I personally think that "The Master" is a hereditary title, passed down through the "Masters" of the Order of Aurelius, of which Our The Master was the leader...
The Master is the oldest Vampire we've seen. The Turokhan isn't included because it is a Primordal Vampire, think Homo Erectus comparied to Homo Sapiens...

According to the book that came with the season 1 dvd, the master is 800. But anya say she met dracula when she was young, meaning dracula is even older than the master.
I guess its possible that staying human looking is one of dracula's powers, but it smells more like bad writing to me.

Dracula could come back as well, when he was dusted, he reappeared in a misty form...
Maybe it's age and/or intelligence, explaining why both The Master and Dracula have defied the Vampire Creed, yet equally old vampires, Turokhan and Kakistos, have be killed

Well, first of all, I think that maybe, seeing as the old vampires all look different even though they are all ancient, that maybe they also aquire different powers. Also, people's hair and fingernails continue to grow even after death.
Ok so Anya says she is failing math in season 3, but then in the one where buffy almost kills her (or in the song she sang in the time of Once More With Feeling that they didnt show) she says she is good at math...one of the many! Oh i have soo many more!

Also, about the whole no breathe/no reflection thing, in nearly every episode with a vampire in it there is obvious breathing and/or reflection see Him in S7

Another particularly annoying one is Anya's inexplicable forgetting how to drive between Graduation Day and Triangle.

Yep, she could drive. She tries to talk Xander into fleeing Sunnydale with her, mentions that she has her car outside and says they could take turns driving wherever.
