What if...
Linsey had stayed on as the new head of special projects instead of lilah, and didn't quit just because of his evil hand?
How would the show have been different?

The fifth season would've been completely different and his return then was not something I would ever imagine changing. Aside from that...
Maybe the power would've went to his head and he would slowly become a demon from the inside out. Soon enough his hand would grow demon-like claws and his eyes turn red, then abnormal strength and bursts of anger every time one of his plans got foiled again. Perhaps eventually he wouldn't even look human anymore and crave human flesh, not just blood. Then Angel would kill him. Maybe Lilah would've been his first meal?

I never thought of it as a demonic hand, I just thought it was a murderes' hand, and it retained a desire to kill somehow.
If it had made linsey stronger though, maybe he would be a match for angel? I'd love to see how the fight in You're Welcome would've turned out if linsey was super strong and crazed due to evil hand issues.

^ As far as I recall, the hand wasn't demonic or a murderer's. It had been hacked off a person Lindsey once knew who had upset Wolfram and Hart, so they held him in stasis and used him as a living body farm. When Lindsey finally sees the guy in the medical facility, the man begs him to kill him, which I think is where all the 'kill' messages were coming from.
I think that the Angel/Lindsey fight could have gone differently if Lindsey had been demon-hand powered up a bit. Though it could have originally gone in his favour if he hadn't just let Cordy shut off his countdown!

The hand could've turned him demonic as a side-effect of the mystical healing.

Yeah, it is possible that the spell or methods that were used altered it in some way. If you consider how many things they make possible on this show through the creative use of magic, a demon hand is simple. Plus it would've made thing interesting.
I also think that with Lindsey as a connection (albeit an unreliable one) Angel may have worked a little closer with Wolfram & Hart, though probably would never have been given control over it. Although, personally, I think that would have been preferrable considering I view the fifth season as optional. But he still would have had more resources and things would have turned out quite differently.

If lindsey would have stayed on i see everything happening differently. But i do think Lindsey would have became a good guy quicker that he did. i don't believe he would have been the one fighting angel in your welcome, i do believe however that they might have worked together. I mean look at lindsey's past. Where ever it came to something seriously evil (like the blind lady and how she was going to kill the kids and he stopped her or helped) and then how he is always trying to do good on the inside of wolfarm and hart. I do believe that Angel still would have ended up working on the inside, but maybe in a differen capacity.
i do believe that things would have been drastically different but then again i think they would have been the same. i don't know if that makes any sense. But still, i think lindsey would have still be a good guy, i don't think he would have been overwhelmed by his evil hand, im sure Angel and everyone would have found a way to stop him or something.
