Buffy's Relationships

As an old-school Buffy fan, my favourite relationship of hers was and always has been with Angel. Although they probably wouldn't have much of a future unless she quit being the Slayer or he became human, I always found them to be so compelling and emotionally believable. I also think that Angel might be the only person who can truly understand Buffy, as prior to Spike's soul-getting they were the only 'people' around to not actually be full fledged people - they can understand each other's callings.

I didn't mind Buffy/Riley, although I hated Buffy/Spike. Those two worked much better as enemies than lovers. What do you think?

I completely agree about Angel/Buffy. I liked them together. The tragic part of their affair is probably what drew me in. I really never liked Angel with any one else, especially when they tried to pair him up with Cordelia on ANGEL.

Riley was okay, but he was her rebound guy. Plus, Riley had issues with the fact that Buffy never really needed him. That's a hard thing for a male ego.

Spike and Buffy was more on Spike's end than Buffy's. Buffy was just looking for something to make her feel alive again and he was there. If she ever loved him, it was for sticking around, when all others left.

Now I liked the Buffy / Spike relationship for that reason.I don't think they ever loved each other but there was an attraction of sorts !
Riley couldn't get over that Buffy was independant and that was always a sticking point.
Angal adored Buffy and if they could have I think they would have been together forever!

Buffy and Spike definatly...because he tried to deny that he didn't love her but he couldn't. And in the end of the seris the last words spoken by Buffy were Spike, Angel!

They were so strong when they were together but when Angel was "evil" they were the strongest of enemies!! I didnt mind the Buffy & Riley relationship when they first got together - when Riley was still "innocent" and with the initiative but after that he just changed and i really started to dislike him!

And the Buffy & Spike relationship... well it was all about lust and whilst there's nothing wrong with that, that relationship would never have lasted! Yet i still wanted them to be together and i believe that in the end they had begun to truely love each other.

I agree with Clare on everything she said except for the wanting Buffy/Spike together part. Riley was great for her until the whole blood drinking thing came along so he could feel stronger. They just killed his character by doing that. But Buffy/Angel was always a true love. He loved her before she was the slayer, he loved her after she became the slayer and she loved him after everything he did as Angelus and through everything.

i didn't really mind buffy/angel, but i wasn't particularly a fan either. i actually would have liked angel with faith. i think buffy/spike was just HOT. and i think they did love each other. riley was just awful, so not comparable with the slayer.

I just recently saw the episode 'I will remember you' from Angel, and my thoughts on the Buffy/Angel relationship changed. I guess i never really liked them together because there were so many boundries they couldn't cross. But after seeing that episode, i really don't have a problem with Bangel. But i've always been a fan of the Spuffy. I didn't care for the season 6 stuff, mainly because Buffy treated Spike like shit(which i really don't think he minded), and it ended with Spike almost rapping her. I did like how they were in the beginning of season 6 though. I LOVED Spuffy in season 7. I don't know if they loved eachother, but whatever they had was real(unlike season 6).

I LOVED bANGEL!!1!!!LIKE ABSOULTLY NEED THEM 2GEDA! they were soooo cute! i mean, they had 2 be! they're soulmates! alwaz and 4ever.spuffy was alright i guess, but it was never really pure like bangles. as riley and buffy? riley was too much of a dumb ass wimp. just bcuz ur gf is stronger than u doesnt mean u r inworthy or mentally weak over all! riley was just alwaz irking mynerves. at fisrtt i loved spuffy and buffy and riley...iuntil i saw season 1-4 cuz i satrted watching around season mid season 4...

I voted for Angel butr I like her relationship with Spike alot more than Angel and Buffy but I don't partically know why. But I've always loved Spike's character.

I really like all of Buffy's relationships, but I think she needs someone as strong as her who was never undead or soul-less. But over all I would say that Angel caused too much pain. season 6 Spuffy was annoying and wrong. but S7 Spuffy was good. I also liked Riley a lot in S4 and the very beginning of S5.

Ok, after a few years of careful deliberation, I've finally come to a desicion. I want buffy to end up with.......angel.

Spike and buffy should never have happened. Riley was a good choice because he's a human and can have a normal relationship with her...but her life will never be normal, and now he's powerless he won't be able to keep up with her, not without his weapons and backup at least. Plus he ran away and replaced her awfully fast, what was that about?

I didn't think Angel should be with buffy, he can't be with buffy for his whole eternal life, and besides the bangel angst was the low point of the first 3 seasons. But you just know they are going to end up with each other, they really love each other, and angel seems like he will stick with buffy even when she's a little old lady.

Maybe Angel will shanshu. If he becomes human and Buffy has the other Slayers to ease off her work, they might have a chance together.
