January's Hot Topic is What If...! This topic was suggested by Gumdrop and it is an interesting topic as it can be to do with absolutely anything! You can state anything like; What if Angel never left Buffy? And then people can discuss your idea! Hope you all have fun with this one because it's quite an "open" topic! So, what if Tara never died in Season 6?

If tara never died, there would be no evil willow, and so the big bad would probably have been the nerds, who would have ended up in prison or something. Plus no kennedy! Yay!
If spike never got his soul back, I don't think it would have changed s7 much, except he wouldn't have been as crazy at the start. Season 5 of angel wouldn't have had any spike though... yay!
What if cordy never left sunnydale?

If Tara died I agree about evil Willow and the nerds. No Kennedy would have been great! Especially Kennedy+Willow. Also Giles wouldn't have come back.
If Spike never got his soul back then the Ubervamp would not have been let out and Buffy wouldn't have known what she was up against. Also he wouldnt have been crazy.
If Cordy never left Sunnydale then she probably wouldnt have gotten as mature, maybe Anya would never have been with Xander or the two could have fought over him in a more prolonged Triangle sort of way. Would have been funny. But no Cordy in Angel...
What if Giles and Joyce had gotten together?

If Tara never died i think the big bad wouldn't have been the nerds i think it would have been tara trying to control with with her magic, i think more would have happened with the problem willow had with her magic in season 6...plus the nerds, but they weren't a big bad anyways.
if Spike had never gotten his soul back than i personally don't think he would have come back to sunnydale, or maybe even he would have been the big bad if he did come back. because he went to the cave for something, so if he didn't get his soul maybe he got the chip removed
if Cordy never left sunnydale than i think her and xander would have eventually got back together and then her and anya would go back and forth with him, but in the end i think he would have stayed with anya instead of cordy because when he was with anya he seemed more mature
if Giles and Joyce got together i don't think giles would have left unless he needed to, i don't think buffy would have gotten kicked out of the house, i think the relationship between the two would have been complete different and i think she would have respected him more as a person.
What if Joyce never died in season 5?

If Tara hadn't died I also think that maybe the issue with Willow and the magic would have ended very differently. Maybe the end battle would have been between Willow and Tara because Willow lost control or something.
If Spike hadn't gotten his sould back I think maybe he would have had the chip removed, but I don't think he would have become the big bad, or even a little bad. Maybe his instincts would have told him to kill people, but he still knew Buffy would kill him if she found out he was killing again of his own free will.
If Cordy never left Sunnydale I don't think she would have gotten as mature, therefore I also think that maybe she would eventually have been killed off because she was expendable and she would have been tieing the group down.
If Giles and Joyce became a couple I think that may have effected how not only Buffy saw him, but it would make a lot of the second season different. Giles and Jenny would never have been together (this all depends on the time that G & J got together). Angel wouldn't have killed Jenny, or at least Giles wouldnt have cared as much, so Angel would never have almost killed Giles and Buffy would not have realized what she had to do as quickly.
If Joyce never died in S5 I think S6 would have been tremendously different in that a lot of the decicsions the Scoobies made regarding Dawn, the house, the Buffybot, and everything would have been different. Bringing Buffy back would have been that much harder, Willow and Tara would have had to find a new place to live once Buffy came back. Buffy may not have even been as ready to sacrafice herself. Or maybe she would have been more ready.
What if Angel never lost his soul?

If Tara hadn't died, Willow would have probably gone evil from a demon-spell possession (or from Warren killing someone else, like Xander) and she'd have been instrumental in saving her. In S7, she'd have helped Willow learn to control her power and would have been someone Buffy could talk to about Spike and other issues.
If Spike hadn't gotten his soul back, he'd probably have felt remorse over what happened with Buffy anyway. He would have either have left totally or forced a confrontation with Buffy that would have lead to his staking, or forgiveness on her behalf - and without a soul, it would likely have been the former.
If Cordy hadn't left Sunnydale, she'd have remained working to keep financially afloat, and maybe have taken additional college classes when she had the time and money. She may have kept contact with the Scoobs, but would most likely have drifted away from them.
If Giles and Joyce became a couple, Buffy and Dawn would probably have been more grounded later on. Buffy would be weirded out at first by the mixture of her slayer and normal lives, but would have adjusted eventually. She'd have had more direct support after Joyce's death, and probably would have not spiralled so badly during late S5 and S6.
If Joyce never died in S5, Buffy's depression and apathy with life wouldn't have reached such dangerous levels. She would probably still have sacrificed herself and be miserable when she came back, but would have recovered more rapidly as she wouldn't have had the job/parenting responsibilites to deal with on top of her own issues.
If Angel never lost his soul, the show would have lost its best story. Buffy and Angel would have stayed together during the year, but might still have broken up in S3 due to Joyce and the Mayor's comments on their relationship. Jenny would remain alive (leading to more of the Giles/Jenny relationship), and Buffy would have maintained her formerly happy and sunny disposition.
What if S6 and S7 were written competently, by people with actual talent?
What if Faith never killed the deputy Mayor?

If Tara hadn't died I don't think they would have killed off Xander. They can't kill any of the core four because fans wouldn't bother watching anymore. some characters are expendable, those are not.
If Spike hadn't gotten his soul back he would probably, in the end, have been staked, but I doubt he would have been the Big Bad because that would have been too repetative (like season 2 with Angel).
If Cordelia had remained in Sunnydale I doubt they would have let go of her character completely, but her presense in the show would have become much more sporadical. Maybe she would have been along side Xander and Buffy in fast food world, or maybe something more classy. Maybe even the magic shop.
If Giles and Joyce were together later on in the series I think Buffy would have kept in better touch with her mom, making some of the S4 and early S5 problems a little better. Also The family would have been more solid and Tabula Rasa would have been all the more funny.
If Joyce had never died I think Dawn's shoplifting and school issues would not be a problem. She would have had am ore stable home environment and felt less ignored. Her character would have been less whiny and Partcynic and I would hate her a little less.
If Angel never lost his soul Buffy and Angel would have stayed together, but their relationship would be really boring by then. They would have to spice it up somehow, maybe by adding a new vamp or something for Buffy to be jelous of (seeing as how Angel if usually the jelous one). Also it would have been nice to see Giles/Jenny go a little further. At least make up.
Nice comment there. lol
If Faith had never killed the deputy mayor I think she still would have turned, but based on being slightly outcasted by Buffy group or her not fitting in or something. I think Buffy and the gang would have defeated the Mayor easier and maybe the deputy mayor could develop into a nice character to later be butchered mercilessly at the hands of probably the mayor.
There was no rule saying I could only ask one so:
What if Faith had died and there was yet another slayer?
What if Dawn had never been added to the show (this one is for you, Partcynic)?

(Already answered most of them, so just the new ones).
If Faith had never killed the deputy mayor, she'd probably have stayed with the gang until some other kind of slight occurred, however minor. She'd have drifted away and maybe even left, but would also have sided with the Mayor if she had the opportunity.
If Faith had died and there was another slayer, we'd all have been bored watching the mythology be explained for the zillionth time. The new slayer would probably have been written as more similar to Buffy or a halfway between Buffy and Faith, and probably wouldn't have been in the show for very long.
If Dawn had never been added to the show, S5 would have been another top-notch year of Buffy, and pretty much every episode in S5 and S6 would have improved. (In S6, Dawn wasn't the main problem, but was just another anchor miring the year in horrible-ness). The Glory arc would either have been discarded entirely or re-written to make the Key something different; and would probably have been introduced around mid-season as opposed to near the start, removing some of the repetitiveness from the arc.
What if Xander had come out of the closet instead of Willow?

If Faith hadn't killed the deputy mayor I think the season would have been a lot less suspenseful because the deputy would already have told us what was going to happen. Also Anya could possibly been lost because she was the one who told the gang about ascentions in the first place (which really would have sucked).
If there was yet another slayer I think they would have had to make this new one very resistant to her duties as slayer because the other two were so willing. Otherwise it would get serisouly repetative, well more seriously repatative, and would have sucked. so yea.
If Dawn had never been added to the show I think all three of the other seasons would have improved dramatically because without the Glory plot they could have tried something similar, but maybe with fewer plot holes and then would have been more creative in the future with their villains (possibly...). Wow that would have been like the ultimate series-saver. They could have had even more seasons if that happened (I think I might be stretching it a bit...)
If Xander had come out instead of Willow then I think they might have kept Ox around (yay!) But then Tara would not have come (boo!). Also I think Xander would have more trouble finding a boyfriend than Willow did having a girlfriend. And anyways no Anya (boo!). I am against the whole idea. But it could have been interesting to see how that changed Xander, especially after dealing with whats-his-face from highschool (I can't remember his name!! AHH!!).
What if one of the scoobies (aside from Buffy) had an actualy sibling?
