Looking back on season 5, are you glad illyria was added to the show, or would you rather they'd kept fred around?

I enjoyed both characters, so I can't really choose one - but I wish they'd done something more imaginative than having Fred die/be possessed/go evil just after she got together with Wesley. Both Buffy and Angel have done that plot device to death.

I'm a fan of both characters too. If they had kept fred around and never introduced illyria, I would have been fine with that.
But then we wouldn't have had all the great illyira/spike scenes. And aside from angel, she's the only person to have had some really great scenes with spike since the fred scenes at the start of the season, when fred was trying to de-ghost him.

How could you not love fred?! i mean she was one of the best additions to the show, especially since Cordelia was killed off, or comaed of, whatever you wanna call it. Fred personally was one of my favorites. I do agree that they could have done something different with her whole death/evil thingy mabob.
but then again i loved illyria too. my favorite scene with her was when she was sparring with spike. and i liked the whole morphing thing when she found Wesley dead and she had to kill that red guy. I know some people wished that they would have played out the whole Wesley/Fred relationship but i liked the way they did it with illyria sorta. i mean she had feelings for Wesley because Fred did , and i liked how they showed her trying to fight her feelings towards him.
i loved them both. <3
