Faith

I think Faith represented what a slayer normally is. Outside of main society, not having any family, and not having any friends. Her downfall was that she denied killing that man was bad. What do you think about Faith?

I loved Faith and thought she was a great idea to add into the show. I didn't like how she killed that man and then tried to pin it on Buffy. And then tried to kill Angel. No one messes with Angel. But it was kool of her to come back and help. She is 5x5.

Killing the first guy i could understand, but she lost me after she joined with the mayor and killed the professor. Still, those dreams where she made a bed with buffy were cool.

Faith is the best character ever, and Eliza is so hot. The Buffy/Faith storyline was the best one in the entire series, IMO. And when she came back in season four - the fight in the Summers house was awesome. The best fight scenes and many of the best ever episodes were ones with Buffy and Faith together.

I really liked them bringing her back in Season 7, too. I think she would have been a natural spin-off for the show.

Is it just me, or was faith supposed to be a year younger than buffy and the rest? We never saw in class with them, and the fact that she was 'chosen' after buffy suggests that she is younger, assuming slayers are always chosen when they are 16.

I think she was younger. I know Kendra was. I don't know if they are always chosen when they are 16. Kennedy was much older than that in Season 7, and she was still a potential slayer.

I seem to remember kendra and maybe also faith saying they were trained their whole life before they were called...I wonder why buffy wasn't trained as well.

Probably because her parents kept her from that. Kendra said that she was taken from her family very young. I believe Faith was somewhat of an orphan?

Sometimes on buffy when a full background or explanation of events isn't given, I like to make up my own in my head.

In the case of faith's background, I always imagined she used to have a normal childhood, until she found out about her slayer legacy, and then took it upon herself to leave her parents and detatch herself from all her old friends, so they wouldn't find out about monsters and worry about her fighting them and risking her life. Then faith moves to sunnydale, and one of the main reasons she hates buffy so much is that buffy didn't get rid of her normal life. Faith made sacrifices, buffy did the wrong thing and yet she's the one getting all the attention and praise.

Or perhaps I put too much thought into it?

Not at all. In the alternative, maybe Faith's family were killed by that vampire that tracked her to Sunnydale. Maybe she resented Buffy because Buffy protected her mother, where Faith could not?

I dont think her parents were dead. Faith said the vampire killed her watcher, surely if it had killed her family too she would have mentioned it?

We'll never know. I still think Joss should have spun off a show about Faith. That really would have been interesting.
