I'd heard about this - it's not exactly the best news. Buffy - Joss - SMG and the original cast = Epic Fail I bet they're trying to cash in on the success of Twilight - because we all know what a brilliant piece of art that is.

Yeah, no one can be better then Sarah. She is Buffy (well...softa of...). Hehe Twilight a brilliant piece of art. Ha. Twilight sucks, the so called author can't write to save her life, and the vampire SPARKLE in sunlight!!!

I certainly agree that sarah is buffy. Every time I see her in another role, my first thought is 'hey it's buffy!', the actress is completely associated with the character.
Having someone else play buffy is just insanity.

I heard this news early last year. I was horrified. Buffy is Sarah. Sarah is Buffy. No one else can play Buffy. Sarah is just....the one. She has the right voice, body, face, tone. She can just do it. It's like she was meant to be Buffy, like Buffy was made for her. All her other roles are great, but Buffy just can't be beat, no matter what Sarah does. Another movie without the original cast would ruin the dazzle Buffy has refused to relinquish. I have all seasons and am still rewatching them. I have almost all Angel too. No Sarah equals NO BUFFY.

Why can't they just leave Buffy alone? A new movie... a reboot will only humiliate Joss Whedon's hard work. Also I haven't seen Twilight, but from what I've heard from buddies 'obsessed' with it, it sounds like they tried to humanize the vamps a little too much. They're demonic magical paracites, not another teen idol. Hopefully a new Buffy won't be a knockoff of the Twilight defects.

Since the first movie tanked, horribly, (probably because the acting was bad, and it just wasn't good in any way....and because Sarah wasn't in it, lol), and then the TV series rocked up the world, why do they THINK anyone would want a movie without the people we've all come to love? Buffy the Vampire Slayer...When you think of that, you think of Sarah Michelle Prinze almost instantly, and then other people in the series. Swanson is forgotten. If they create a movie without Sarah and the rest of the cast, it's like it isn't Buffy. It brings back the memories of Kristy Swanson's tragic performance. Since the show became such a huge thing, it embedded the image of Sarah in our brains. Our brains are wired to match up her with Buffy. A new Buffy movie will most likely cause a HUGE problem.

I might be ok with a new buffy movie, if it was to be made fifteen years or so from now.
But it is way too soon for that, the old show is still fresh in our minds, and I don't see why they can't just bring back the original cast.

Has anyone heard anything new about this movie?
It doesn't seem to be mentioned on wikipedia. I'm starting to think the idea was scrapped.
