Maybe it just looked weird because the acress playing cordy was at least 30.

I think that's a little part of it, but there are just too many Freudian undertones to someone having sex with their former mother-figure. The lack of blood relation and age difference isn't the issue there, it's the psychological thing. Bear in mind that when the ep originally aired most people thought Cordelia was acting on her own wishes, and found it completely ridiculous because of that.

But then again, I'm biased. The thought of Connor/Anyone makes me want to get some memory bleach.

I'm not a big fan of the Angel show, though I still find it entertaining. But since I didn't know about the spin-off until I'd finished watching Buffy in 2006, I'd grown emotionally attached to Buffy Summers, and I found it hard to concentrate on watching Angel without her. I never knew Connor was that old when he and Cordy had their relationship, so..But, still, it's that big of an age difference. And this is kinda off-topic, but Nicholas B was over 20 when he got the role for Buffy...that means he must be short....

Anyways, I think that Connor and Cordy were, overall, a good couple. They aren't worthy of a couple-name or of being compared to Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike, never, but their relationship was quite entertaining and roller-coaster-y. It seems that all Buffy/Angel couples have a bit of an age difference:

Buffy/Angel (DUH)
Buffy/Spike (DUH)
Buffy/Riley (Just a lil)
Buffy/Parker (not much)

Xander/Cordy(just by months, lol)
Oz and Willow (not sure for their age difference)
Olivia and Giles (not sure for their age difference)
