Was her death a surprise to you when you first watched the show? Were you impressed by Giles' response to Angel?
I was a little surprised. I knew that Joss didn't have a fear of killing a main character (remember Jessie?). I think it did show the ruthless of Angelus, which was important for Buffy to understand. Angel was gone.
While I was impressed with Giles going after him, I also understood Buffy's reaction to him doing so. Without Giles, Buffy would have been lost.
What do you think?

To tell you the truth, I didnt really like Jenny Calender. I mean she was good for Giles and I think that they would have lasted for a long time if she wasnt killed but I just didn't like her that much.
It was a bit of a surprise to see her killed but then it kinda shook the show up and made Buffy realise what she had to do - kill Angel - before he killed any more people who she cared about.
And yeh, Buffy would have been lost if Angel had killed Giles that night when he went after him! But I'm glad Giles did go after him because that showed that he truly cared for Jenny!

I would have liked to see more of jenny. She had a history with angel that I would have loved to see explored. I'm glad she was brought back in season 3 as the first.
What I don't get though, is how drucilla managed to become jenny in 'becoming'. I mean, does she have hypnotising powers? Is that what happens to people who have visions if they are turned into vampires, they gain extra powers?

Yes. She hypnotized Giles into seeing what he wanted to see, to see with his heart. I always thought vampires were supposed to be able to have the power to hypnotize. Maybe it was stronger in Dru because of her gift.

If I was drucilla, I would use those powers all the time. I would have used them to hypnotise everyone into thinking I was a student, so I could enter the library and spy on the gang so I knew what they were up to.

Her powers may have been weakened by her illness she had in the beginning of season 2. Maybe she still hadn't fully recovered.
