Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for the roleplay? Or are there any more sub-boards that you would like to see?

I just had a thought, what about in the roleplay, Dawn could have like a spin-off. So like how Buffy, Xander and Willow used to fight demons at high school, Dawn could do that with a group of friends or something. What do you think?

A Dawn spin-off could be a cool idea, but I guess we'd have to establish what exactly equips Dawn and her friends for the monster fighting in the first place. It might be interesting to explore Dawn's "Key-ness" some more - the show never really explained what happened to that part of her being, and if she still has some of that energy inside of her, she could be a very powerful witch (and the character has shown a lot of interest in learning magic). Perhaps Willow could help teach and train her, once she's gotten over some of her own magic issues?

No, please no, we don't need another witch on the show.
Dawn is the key, maybe her power can be to open portals, to anywhere she wants? That would give her something unique to bring to the gang, and besides there hasn't been any indication on the show that dawn has any witch powers, the only spell she ever did (forever) backfired on her.

She did a spell in CWDP (demon-banishing) that worked pretty effectively. Portal opening is an okay idea, but it brings back a few uncomfortable Angel S1/S2 dimension-hopping memories. And it could overcomplicate stuff if Dawn can simply send any monster anywhere with a gateway.

Another thought about story issues. What do you reckon is the best thing to do about Willow's magic? She's gotten to the point where she's so powerful she could easily solve the gang's problems with a spell. I thought that maybe part of her English training could have had her powers 'cleansed', with the dark magic removed but having left her weaker in the process. Perhaps her skills can slowly 'grow' back, meaning that there's lots of time for stuff to develop and her to learn control/proper use before the power issue comes back again. Any thoughts?

I like that idea Partcynic, it allows for her character to 'grow' like you said and it could be pretty boring if she just had to do a spell and the demons would be gone.

Well Dawn can start off small like with communicating with other realms, or perhaps turn her portal opening power into a strictly summoning potential? Or maybe she is from another dimension all together and she taps her power unwillingly and gets trapped and is fighting for her way home? IDK... there's some ideas.

Dawn is a Watcher in training isn't she? mean she helps Giles and awful lot and she did alot of research but she does have some power because um she read that spell in the episode of season 7 when Buffy was sucked into that shadow portal thing.

My personal opinion is that Willow should have a mental block, she is disgusted with herself for utilising that which seperated her from Tara in the first place, all the grief and anguish she felt of Tara's death, and her own selfdestruction, would prevent her from using any big spells, and reluctance to use majik at all...
---
When it all comes down to it, Dawn is still a child, so she wouldn't have strong power... If she could open portals, it would be over short distances... If she got really angry she might be able to open an interdimensional portal, or an intercontinental portal... but normally just a short-range linear portal...

Anyone want to contribute to my dying character Jonathan? The RP didn't go as planned but if anyone wants to make a character or use their character to help a mischieveous Jonathan find some strength or confidence or powers... :-D

Moving from the Magic Box OC discussion, a couple of points came up re: new characters. I think that in general, it's good to have some kind of introduction between the 'non-canon' beings and those whom actually existed in the show, it makes it slightly easier for those of us who don't have time to read through every post, and it kinda destabilises the established stucture if one person creates a sudden knowledge/character link with another without that person's RP-er knowing. Perhaps these can be discussed here (preferably), or people can PM and discuss with whomever their character is supposed to know/be linked to.
One MAJOR thing I want to bring is about putting limits on people's powers. Please, let's not have any all-doable beings here. I'm already chopping down Willow's power, but with other witches about as well as a slew of vengeance demons, limits need to be established in order to keep things interesting. It will get very dull if one character can simply solve all the problems, so limits on witch/vengeance powers are really, really needed, especially since these could change the entire established background. For example, I'm trying to think of a reason why Willow can't just wish to Anya that Warren was never born (thus totally re-writing the past, bringing Tara back, and undoing her black magic breakdown), so we do need to put limits on things.
